Meet the Bitsy Friends: Mini Dolls Made for Big Imaginations

Bitsy Friends are little 5-inch animal dolls created for dollhouses, adventures, storytelling, and any little games your kids can come up with.

They can go to school.

Go to the Doctors office.

Have a picnic on the living room floor.

Get tucked into a dollhouse bed approximately 47 times.

Or somehow end up in the bottom of your purse because they had to come to Target with you. 

And honestly, that’s exactly what I designed them to be.

So… What Are Bitsy Friends?

Bitsy Friends are small, soft animal dolls designed for open-ended, imaginative play.

They’re about 5 inches tall, which makes them a great size for little hands and for playing in many standard 1:12 scale dollhouses and miniature worlds.

But I didn’t want to create just another cute doll.

I wanted to create characters kids could really get to know.

Each Bitsy Friend has their own home, family, favorite things, personality, and story.

Some are brave.

Some are shy.

Some love baking.

Some would rather spend the afternoon digging for treasure.

And together, they live in a tiny seaside place called Bitsy Town.

Why I Created Bitsy Friends

Before I ever started making dolls, I was an early childhood educator.

And after becoming a mom, I started noticing something about the way my own children played.

Their dolls weren’t just toys.

They were friends.

They used them to tell stories, work through feelings, recreate things that happened during their day, and make sense of their very big world through very little characters.

And I love watching it.

It reminds me that some of the best toys don’t actually do very much.

They leave room for the child to do the imagining.

That’s what I want Bitsy Friends to be.

Simple little dolls that give kids a starting point…and then let their imaginations take it from there.

A Little World You Can Build Together

There’s another piece of Bitsy Friends that is really important to me.

I wanted to make something that could bring moms and kids together.

Because sometimes our kids want us to play dolls…

and sometimes we would much rather make the doll a tiny cardboard refrigerator. 😂

So why not have both?

Around the Bitsy Friends world, you’ll find lots of free miniature DIYs, dollhouse crafts, printables, patterns, and little projects you can make together.

You might spend the afternoon making something tiny.

And then they might spend the next three weeks playing with it.

That’s the kind of play I love most.

It doesn’t have to be expensive.

It doesn’t have to be perfect.

And your dollhouse definitely doesn’t have to look like something from Pinterest.

It just needs to feel like theirs.
