There are some mini crafts that are fun to make…and then there are the ones that immediately become part of everyday play around here. This little DIY fabric mini doll airplane is definitely one of those.
I’ve made quite a few mini things over the years, but this airplane has somehow become a favorite with both of my girls.

And because it’s made from fabric, it has that soft, handmade feel that I love so much.

You can have fun choosing fabrics that match your dollhouse or your child’s personality. Make it colorful and playful, keep it simple and neutral, use up fabric scraps you already have, or make an entire fleet of tiny airplanes.
There really are no rules here.
The goal is simply to make something that becomes part of their play.

- Basic sewing supplies
- Stuffing
- Scissors

Made for Real Play
I think sometimes we put so much pressure on ourselves to create the perfect play space or buy every accessory our kids might need.
But some of my girls’ favorite things have been the little pieces we’ve made ourselves.
They don’t care if something is perfectly stitched.
They don’t care if every detail looks realistic.
They care that their doll suddenly has an airplane and can fly to Paris before lunch. 😂
That’s what I love about DIY miniature crafts. One afternoon you’re using a scrap of fabric, and the next it has become part of a whole imaginary world.
This airplane has been such a favorite with both of my girls, and I’m really excited to finally share the pattern with you.
